Hi Friends,
Itās been a while since Iāve posted my reflections of biggest wins/challenges, so here goes!
Biggest Wins
CPD Hub - I really wanted this year to be a year of learning more, and frequently too, so I can improve my skills and update my knowledge. Iāve attended 3 in-house events in the last 3 months and honestly itās made me hungry to learn more. I realise with this profession, Iām always learning, and I have a lot more to learn too.
Itās actually been nice going to these events without my vlogging camera and just being in the moment taking everything in. I mean, I did take a few photos on my phone camera but that was about it.
I did receive a few messages asking where I find out about certain events, or theyāve told me they would have liked to attend events I posted on my Facebook page / group. Honestly, its mainly word of mouth. For example I was on messenger with another FHP who was telling me how busy her schedule was for the next few months and mentioned a few things she was doing and attending. One of the events she mentioned, I asked her if I would be able to attend too. She gave me the details of the CPD organiser, I paid, and attended that event.
That actually inspired me to create the Facebook group Foot health practitioners CPD hub which is fairly new (only 4 weeks old), but its a great resource to find out whats coming up, what is recommended or being able to ask about certain training events in the UK.
New clients: Google continues to be on my side and sending people my way which is great as I start to build up my studio/clinic with new people. Iām still not fully advertising on social media until I have more availability in September.
Talking of new clients, A win is people actually paying my booking fee before an appointment is made. At first I wasnāt too sure as I was scared it will put people off, but honestly I think it was a good call and happy Iāve introduced it into my booking policy. people pay, Iāve not had any cancellations and they were really lovely people š.
Biggest Challenges
Juggling my Studio and Home visits - So now that Iām doing both, itās sitting down and making a decision of what days or times Iāll be doing what. I find it a challenge because my studio is fairly new, Iām very part time (until September when both kids start school full time), so at the moment, I just book people in here there and everywhere! I have two days in the week that I feel happy to be my clinic/studio days that has been working well. But I plan to give up most of my Saturday working, so really need to have a organised calendar with set days for appointment types.
Iām also having to work out my pricing again. Just ever so slightly for my new regulars who visit me at the studio.
My takeaway
So from everything Iāve written, I think Iām doing OK- Continual development is really important, but also getting to know others in the profession too for friendship and to learn and grow together.
With my calendar - making a little time to decide on the days Iāll be doing what. Itās OK to be a little flexible as I figure it all out! Itās new after all!
So guys, I hope you have a great bank holiday weekend, until next week
