Hi friends,
It's been a year now since I started putting money into a private pension, something I should have done a while ago. But better late than never right.
I guess I never really thought about it at the time because when I was in the NHS it was an automatic thing, I didn’t have to do anything, it was just done. To be honest I’m pretty happy it was because looking back, if that wasn’t the case, I probably wouldn't have made any contributions at all.
It was also a couple of years ago that I realised about national insurance contributions and how that counts towards my state pension (if it still exists at my retirement age!). Honestly I was pretty clueless and still am to a certain point which is why I now have a financial advisor.
Speaking of my financial advisor, I met up with her before Christmas as she happily agreed to film a video with me answering the most asked questions around private pensions. And as she specialises in pensions I knew it would be good, and she definitely delivered. Some of you may have seen her in one of my vlogs last year when I was going through my NHS pensions and setting up a private one as a self-employed foot health practitioner.
So the questions answered in the video were:
What is a private pension
Types of private pensions
How to start/set up a private pension
How much money to put away in a private pension
Do we need a private pension
Are pensions different for a sole trader and a limited company
I’m pretty proud of myself as I’m really trying to get better at editing and making my videos more watchable until the end! My husband also gifted me a pretty neat ring light that will hold my filming camera and mobile phone so hopefully the quality of my videos will be better. We’ll see.
Well I do hope you enjoy this video as I’m sure it will benefit some of you who have been thinking about setting up a private pension!
Have a lovely weekend and see you next week.
